About TAHIA
The Tanzania Health Informatics Association (TAHIA) is a registered professional association under the laws of Tanzania. Tanzania Health Informatics Association (TAHIA) was officially registered on 18th October 2021 under the Society Act ( CAP.337 R.E. 2002) with Registration number S.A.22619.
At TAHIA, we champion the evolution and application of health informatics in Tanzania, with our sights set squarely on the continuous augmentation of access to and the quality of healthcare services for the people of Tanzania.
As per the membership categories, TAHIA’s robust body of professionals originates from many fields, such as health informatics, ICT, computer science, health and allied sciences, and others. While our roots are strongly Tanzanian, we are witnessing an encouraging surge in international memberships, strengthening our global reach and influence.
TAHIA, with its unique strategic positioning, is ideally suited to fortify the health partnerships necessary to optimise the use of digital technologies, including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in both public and private health sectors within Tanzania. The integration of ICT in healthcare is a burgeoning field, globally and specifically in Tanzania. Therefore, one of TAHIA’s cardinal objectives is to offer tangible, well-researched evidence to inform pivotal decisions about strategic investments in ICT for healthcare service delivery.
At TAHIA, our commitment is unwavering. We endeavour to provide independent, high-quality, and meticulously researched expert opinions and advice, aiding informed decisions on investments in digital health solutions development, its effective and efficient implementation, and meaningful usage.
TAHIA Leadership
Our contemporary governance structure is brought to life by a dynamic leadership team consisting of three elected positions: the President, Secretary General, and Treasurer, each aided by dedicated deputies. A team of five accomplished elected officials supplement our leadership. Their role is to provide focused and specialised attention to the various technical, administrative, and strategic operations and interests of TAHIA. As the apex body, this team steers TAHIA's trajectory and embodies the entire membership of the Association. The term of office is fixed at an impactful three-year tenure.
